There are a lot of ways families can encourage their young artists and promote creativity at home:
1. Create a Home Art Studio -By simply setting aside a corner or table, bin, or drawer of art supplies that are always available to your child, you will find that they are often inspired to fill their time creating artwork. Offering your child the freedom to be independently creative can be a positive and beneficial outlet for your child's imaginative explorations.
2. Design a home Gallery - Choose a wall (or walls) in your home to display framed or unframed drawings, paintings, prints, collages, and sculptures made by your child, and other family members. Over time, your collection will grow, and you will have a gallery of artwork the whole family can enjoy. Your little artist will feel very proud to see that you have displayed their art so prominently!
3. Visit local Art Museums - There are many amazing art museums within an hour or two of Thompson. Many offer days and times when admission is discounted, or even FREE! You and your family can start with a short visit of 20 to 30 minutes, to one of these wonderful museums, and see original works from famous artists, and interesting artifacts from many different cultures. Visiting a museum is a wonderful way to spend time together, and get a taste of art history, first hand!
